At the risk of still writing a post about the Holidays…after the Holidays…..

I wanted to share an oddity about one of our cats…..

~~~~~Prosecco~~~~~

Prosecco is a sweet cat…she got her name because she’s a champagne color…but…she’s really odd…..

When we got her as a little kitten…we notices that she had a right angle at the tip of her tail…(like it had gotten slammed in a door)…..

She’s always been an interactive cat…however her meows have always been weirdly loud…garbled…but oddly loud(?)…..

After we had her for about five years…we (finally) figured out that she is totally deaf…..

…..(I had just thought she was extremely aloof…bordering on defiant)……

…..but my older daughter…actually noticed Prosecco’s idiosyncrasies and followed up with some home-made testing…(like clapping behind her…or sneaking up and touching her…and watching her jump)…..

Yep…Prosecco’s not stubborn…she’s deaf…..

But in addition…Prosecco has an attraction…an extreme compulsion…a razor-focused fixation on ribbons and bows(?)…..

I kid you not…..

We’ve stopped putting them on gifts or wrapped presents…because she will rip them off…and run away with them…..

It’s quite a tactical assault on our gift wrapping…..

She’ll plot her approaches and go to stealthy extremes to pull off the ribbons…then run with her prizes…and subsequently chew on them in hiding…and then stash them away as her special treasures for later…..

…..she’s just weird…..

She’s a cute cat…a cuddly cat…but her lust for ribbons is screwy…..

She’s not picky…..

She’ll steal grosgrain ribbons…or satin ribbons…(she’s not too fond of burlap ribbons)…but her favorites are those synthetic stick-on bows and curling ribbons…..

Any gift wrapping has become a real challenge…..
