We still have six puppies!

Yippee!!!

(but, I’m continuing to hold my breath…)

…..and their eyes are starting to open!

…..cute, black, shiny, beautiful eyes…….peeking out from under semi-closed lids…….

It’s just so wonderful to pick them up, nose to nose, and have them stare right back at you…

…..aaaaahhhhhhhh, puppy breath…………….it’s wonderful…..

With their newly discovered vision, their individuality and personalities are also flourishing…..

It’s a fun time with a new litter…

…..they also become more vocal and demanding…….

…..because they can see you…….

…..their idea of a set duration between feedings and your timing can vary…….a lot…….

But with the opening of their little peepers, they will be entering a new phase…….

Solid Food!

Tra!  La!

(to begin with, it’s really more of a gruel.)

They slurp it…they eat it…they wear it…they luxuriate in it…….

…..it’s all just so great…..

Killian doesn’t know it yet, but she soon will be getting a well-deserved rest (her hickeys will be able to start healing) and her puppies will become much tastier…….

Cleaning them after their meals will be an added bonus…….

The Moms usually make sure that their puppies are squeaky clean with slicked back fur and nibbled ears & toes…

The down-side is that their puppy-poo’s will start smelling more like…….well you know…….dog @#$%@…

But utilizing the suggestion from another breeder…..we’ve got that covered too…….

…..shredded newspaper…..

………….it’s a beautiful thing…

And the beauty of shredded paper is that it’s highly absorbent (with more surface area) and the shredded streamers “wrap” around the puppy poopies…….thereby semi-defusing their bombs…..

…..because we all know that the first thing the puppies are going to want to do is to finger-paint in their own/or their brother’s/or their sister’s poo…..

…….I don’t recommend it as a hair product either…….

So this is really a hallmark time…….

They can see what they are eating now…….

And we can all smell what they have eaten…….

Celebrate the small things…….

Life is good…….
