It’s interesting how it turns out to be the little things that can matter the most…..

We’ve had chickens for………….

…………..a long time…

Over that time…..we’ve found that much like meat cows versus dairy cows and meat goats versus dairy goats…..

…..there are chickens who are best at egg-producing…..

…..and chickens who are better plucked and cooked…..

Our chickens put all of their effort into laying eggs…..

…..even though they are well-fed and have free-choice food along with free-range scratching & pecking…..they have no extra meat on their bones…..

They put heart, body & soul into making and laying eggs…..

Over the years we have sold our eggs and/or given them away…..

We usually have a surplus…..even with all of our baking and cooking…..

Recently Paolo has been giving eggs to co-workers because we are in-between places to sell them…..

Usually the road-side/Mom & Pop vegetable stands are where we send our eggs to sell…..

But…..when we give them away…..

*********************Here’s My Pet-Peeve*********************

When you gift eggs to someone…..

…..they hardly ever return the empty egg carton…..

…..but these same people would like more eggs the next time…..

…..I have a small group of friends who understand the need & necessity of those silly/throw-away cartons…..

In the past I’ve been know to hand a grocery store/plastic bag to people with a dozen eggs rolling around inside…..

Immature…..?

Why…yes…..

More recently I’ve taken to writing on the extra cartons that I purchased…..

That seems to be working too…..

Paolo has trained some of his co-workers to bring back the empty cartons…..

It’s kind of like the old/glass/deposit/bottles (remember those?)…..the ones you could return for a refund?

I kind of miss them too…..
