…..if we’re lucky, we might eke out another mini-freeze…….

…..and maybe with another very cold night, we will frost-bite a few more skeeters, for good measure…….

…..I’m really hoping that will happen.

…..I think we’re forecasted to go down to the high thirties…….

…..usually that means (where we are here) we will get down a little lower…….

…..I’ll happily take that.

I’ve been sleeping with socks on in anticipation…….

…..or maybe it’s just because I’m getting old and my circulation is left wanting…….

…..last week during another cold, (very) damp day…….I was outside for over four hours holding the mares for the blacksmith…….

…..we were in the breezeway of the barn…….

…..(“breezeway” was definitely the operative word)…..the wind-chill there had to be twenty degrees lower.

…..I got really chilled to the bone…….I have been that way ever since…….

…..so I’m embracing the old lady in me and I’m sporting knee socks in bed at night…….

~~~~~~~But back to the blacksmith’s visit…….

Addy was good as gold…

Huge…..heavy…..but really well-behaved…

Poppy was a princess…..well sort of…..that was after she offered me her butt when I first tried haltering her.

But Claire (even though she likes the blacksmith) was a kraken on dry land.

We didn’t use the Dormosadan (Sub-Lingual Sedative).

We probably will next time…

She was rocking that shoeing stock…(and by “rocking” I’m NOT being overly-reactive with my choice of vocabulary)…

You know you’re in trouble when the blacksmith and his aide back a-long-way-away and it’s just you testing your will  &  conviction against your very large horse…

And Claire was being a full-blown bitch!

…..I resorted to a chain-twitch…….

…..a lot of horse owners will frown at that last statement…

…..then my suggestion is to stop reading…….

…..no gigantic-princess-pony on this farm is going to pitch such a dangerous fit and learn that behavior is tolerated…….

…..but I’m still sore (four days later)…

…..Claire is unscathed (she does have a slight abrasion on her lip)…

…..hopefully she will be more complacent  &  compliant the next time…
