We Had A Hard Freeze!!!

Take that mosquitoes!
I don’t think we’ve had a hard freeze for the past two winters at least…
We need at least one a winter to kill off the green-gooies that get to thriving in the heat and humidity down here…….(witness Ben’s head).
And the mosquito population has been growing each year exponentially.
As an aside…….did you know that we have elected officials who head up our Mosquito Control Division?

Yes, we do.
(One year we elected an Elvis Impersonator…….yes, we did…….)
You have to take mosquitos seriously here, or else they will just carry this moldy-steamy-state away, suck it dry and plop us somewhere in of the Gulf of Mexico.
And let’s not forget the diseases.
The horses all get their annual West Nile vaccination booster…….shouldn’t we bi-peds be getting a West Nile booster, too?
The Wolfhounds (who are currently happily larking in the cold outside) take regular heartworm (mosquito-borne) medication.
My younger daughter’s (4 1/2 pound) Papillon thinks outdoor activity is NOT meant for his lapdog delicacies…….he’s shivering with all of his overt-fluffiness…….and let’s not forget about the static electricity!

…..last night was not that rock group’s depicted “Three Dog Night”…….
…..it was a “Ten Cat Night” instead.
Staying warm was not an issue…
Breathing was…
There were the necessary/pre-territorial-argumentative-spats…….in terms of staking claim to my body parts…
But, once I was divvied-up…..flags were planted/domains were established…..then, we were all able to get warm & cozy & sleep.
Archimedes and Sam had their customary spot on the pillow by my face…
Copernicus fought for his usual/crook by the back of my knees…
DaVinci traded turns with Neil at the top of my head…
Prosecco glowered down at us from the top of the headboard…
Someone was draped over my kneecaps…
I lost track after that…….I was just warm & tired.
Life is good…….enjoy the little things…….
…..well…….maybe unless you are allergic to cats…….
…..or if you’re a mosquito or a fungus (and I’ve met a few of them)………….
