~Not Fun…But Necessary~

Drudgery chores are not fun…..
They can…and should…be put off for as long as possible…..

…..on any farm…big or small…you’re going to find a lot of chores…..
Over time we’ve collected jars of rusty bolts…old oil pans filled with semi-bent (but still good) nails…along with coffee cans brimming with old screws…..

…..and wood piles…..
…..lots of scrap wood piles…and over-night…they grow bigger…and they visit you while you’re sleeping…..

My daughters and I recently attacked one of our (multiple) wood piles…it had become a behemoth…..
My older daughter has a good idea for the storage of the better wooden boards by using an old (very-wobbly) wooden ladder…..

I’m having a hard time visualizing her idea…but I’m game…..
Apparently…she’s going to cut off the rotten bottoms of the wooden ladder…and then store the better boards on the steps…off the ground…..
I’d sketch the idea here…(but I don’t know how to/and I don’t think my computer does that anyway)…..

What started this project “this” week?…..
…..well one thing led to another…(as it always does)…..

You see…Anja started rubbing her butt on my daughter’s truck (messing up her side mirror and denting the panel)…(Anja has a big butt)…..

So…we have a perfectly good truck shed…which was made for her truck (when it was my truck)…but it got filled with stuff…and then…more stuff…..
…..then left-over boards & scrap wood were piled along the wall…..

…..(FYI…don’t ever stack wood along the walls of a house in Florida…it attracts/encourages termites right to the spot you really don’t want them…your house)…..

My daughters and I started heaving the junk & hauling it away…(I ended up wheezing & weaving & taking too many breaks)…but in three days…we got all the wood out…(not all the stuff yet)…(but all the wood)…..

It was interesting identifying ant-eaten pieces of old projects from the past…good memories…..
…..and how the bottom of this pile was self-composting…..

…..and seeing the toads and lizards and spiders (and yes, snakes) who had made it their home…(FYI…we wore gloves and boots)…..

Now all we have to do is break down the wooden tile crate…move the whetting wheel…..

And my daughter can save her truck from Anja’s itchy ass…..
…..(and for you farm-people out there who are wondering…do we worm Anja enough?…yes we do…regularly…I think she just likes itching…and denting things)…..

Just another day at the oasis in the swamp…Tra! La!
