Mister Lawn Jockey

I can write about “him” now…
He’s not a secret any more…

I was requested by Ester’s husband to paint a concrete lawn jockey for Ester as a holiday gift…

…..and subsequently an old lawn jockey was delivered onto my driveway…

…..the chickens and I and Patrice were enlisted to paint Mr. Lawn Jockey (a.k.a./M.L.J.)…

…..he needed a good wash…..and a scrub…..and then multiple coats of sealant…

…..and after a guarded phone call to Ester…..I found out what colors she would like on a hypothetical lawn jockey…..should she ever get one…..

…..(she and I had actually been looking for our own personal jockeys over the years…..to no avail)…..
Ester supplied me with the necessary information on the preferred colors she wanted for her jockey man…..red jacket and white breeches…
…..and away I went…..

…..a couple trips to Home Depot later…….and I had all the necessary supplies…..
…..then after M.L.J.’s bubble bath…..I started painting him with multiple coats of sealant (plus three on his base).

Then onward to the colors of his attire…..

I did fairly well…….other than wearing a compilation of his paint on my face/my hair/Patrice/my cell phone/& in my ears…….(?)…….

…..oh, and repeatedly putting the wrong end of the paint brushes in my mouth…….
…..sigh…..

…..oh…..and also making a smidgie of a mistake and using the “red” paint brush in the white paint and making his breeches a very nice shade of pink…..(not cool)…..(sorry, Ester)…..

…..so I re-painted (and re-painted)……..and made his breeches appropriately white…..

I had to enlist my older daughter (who has better eyesight)-(remember I’m blind in one eye) to finish off M.L.J.’s pupils and eye-liner, along with our Hunt Club’s initials on his gold buttons…

Finally Mr. L. Jockey was finished and retrieved by Ester’s hubby…
He was SOOOOOOOO heavy…

Ester has since “unwrapped” and approved of her new M.L.J…….(that’s why I can blog about him now)…

I was happy with our detailing…

Our initials are hidden in the painted blades of grass on the sides of his base…

I don’t know where Mr. Jockey was originally procured…….I don’t ask questions…….(personally…I think he’s a hot jockey)…

…..but I can say…..he has a nice tooshie…..
…..for a cement butt…….it’s really cute…..

Wow looks fab, good job … I love itππ
To be totally honest…….I panicked when I painted his breeches pink by mistake…….I really didn’t know if the white paint would cover it thoroughly…….so far…so good.
