Millings

Millings

Note the Surrounding Puddled Water

We have a pile of millings now in the middle of our driveway.

It’s a big pile, but we probably need about five more.

What are millings, you might well be asking?

……………….well, they are ground-up, old asphalt from roads that are under construction or being changed and/or repaired.

An assortment of people (all owning dump trucks) show up at your gate (at ANY time of day &/or night!) with a heaping load of these millings.  And for an exchange of cash, they dump the millings (sort of close to) where you want them………….

I think they are illegally gotten millings…

They are “hot”.

But, living below the water-table, as we seem to be at present……………hot or not……………I’ll take them…

Paolo’s in the legal profession and one thing I’ve learned over the years is………………….possession IS 9/10th of the law.

However, that being said…………………….I think I’ve committed a faux pas where hot-millings are concerned………

I think I shouldn’t have accepted an additional order with the driver directly…………….I think I should have gone through the illegal-millings-network-organizer-dispatcher instead………..

Who knew!!!

Apparently there’s a play-book?!

It’s not like there is a handbook out there on how to appropriately purchases illegally-gotten road-work refuse……….

I mean, if there is a list of rules, I’ll read it…………

But if Edwardo and his truck shows up at my gate with a load of chopped-up macadam, then Bob’s you Uncle…………………no, wouldn’t that be Edwardo’s your Uncle?

Anyway that’s what nice Edwardo has done for us again today………….

But like I said, I think I committed a macadam-millings-faux-pas……………..sigh.

We’ve gotten two loads from Edwardo at this point.  Nice guy.  Even nicer truck……………..shouldn’t I be looking at designer bags and shoes instead of admiring construction equipment and large industrial trucks?

Apparently I missed that bulletin, too…

My job yesterday and today will be spreading out the pile to the appropriate low/soft spots…………………..there are just so many from which to choose…

We have a spot where our laundry water puddles in the side yard (weekend permitting at it’s best).

It’s the most wonderful, muddy playground for the hounds………………….I’ll be aiming for that one for sure.

That is after I spread enough of this black-gold around, so that I can actually get to the back yard and not get mired down in between.

Must go now and play in the mud…

Ah—–four-wheel-drive—–I love you.
