It’s Late; I’m Muddy; I’m Exhausted; I Must Love This Farm Life…

This will be a quick post…
I thought this evening was winding down…

I had everything done that needed doing for the day…
I was ready for an evening of watching TV…

I fed the horses their dinner, and Addy looked off…
I just “happened” to have a rectal thermometer in Patrice’s (my bib over-alls) pocket…………….(doesn’t everyone carry around rectal thermometers, just in case the moment is right?)

So I took her temperature…
Augh!

It was high again……….even though today was hot and muggy……….it was still way too high…
Sigh……………..double-sigh…
Soooooooooooooooo…………..I started hosing…

I gave an IM (intramuscular) shot of Banamine (muscle relaxant & fever reducer)…

And I kept hosing.

I hosed, and I hosed, and I hosed…
It’s almost midnight……………..I got Addy’s temperature down to 102.0F from way over 103.0F……………..(I think the first temperature was actually 103.8F but I didn’t have my bi-focals and I couldn’t read the thermometer clearly)…

Patrice is soggy and heavy…
I didn’t have dinner…
I’m not hungry…

I’m just tired…
I’m waiting for Dr. Stevie Wonder to text back with the next stage of our game-plan…
And the beat goes on……………..if we are lucky enough…

***Addendum—–Addy’s temperature is now 100.6F. That’s definitely acceptable. I’m going to bed…………..
…to quote Scarlett O’Hara—“After all, tomorrow is another day.”
Sigh…
