I spent last evening looking at my chicken catalogs.

 

 

And yes, to answer your next question………………………………

I have multiple chicken catalogs.  And most of the hatcheries have been around since before I was born.  That’s a long time.

 

All through my life, I have gone to post offices and picked up my over-night chicks of various colors, genders, & types.

 

They come through swimmingly (really swimmingly?—–pick another adverb)………………..They come through really gooder.

My older daughter made an earth-shaking observation once.  I’d really never noticed before……………….

………………..two-day old baby chicks are egg-shaped.

*****The next time you have a chance to check out a two-day old, baby chick, check it out……….they are egg-shaped*****

Well, they are.

So, I e-mailed Simone last night.  Considering she is not only our Jt. Master of the Foxhounds, but she is also our leading chicken exhibitor…………I needed her input.

She annually rakes in that $5.00 prize money each State Fair and by now she can probably wall-paper a spare bathroom with her blue ribbons.

BUT, I was thinking………..(never a good thing)………….we need to up-grade our stock and our flock.

So, last night I perused my catalogs and I created a game plan for poultry exhibition for next year at the Florida State Fair…………………..

 

We need a Grand Champion…………………just saying.

 

 

 

So here are some options (local predators willing)………..

So many chickens to chose from.

It’s all about the Ribbons after all.

Oh, Oh, Oh—–AND the fried food on the Midway.

Yep, that about sums it up…

P.S.—–I figured a good name for my Buff-Laced Polish Crested hen should be Phyllis (for the comedienne, Phyillis Diller)-(her hair was always scary).
