~~~Summer is Here~~~

We seem to be in the middle of changing from a record drought…to the extreme heat of summer and its accompanying deluges…..

The humidity is cranking up…the armpit algae is back again in full force…it’s the season of mold & fungus…..

As the turgid smothering humidity takes effect…the familiar summer smells of citronella and Kopertox and sweat take center stage…..

Ah…Summer…..

With the changing weather from bone dry to soppy muddy wet………….poor Crimson has “blown an abscess”…..

She changed from a very “sound” horse one day…with four good legs…..

…..to being dead lame overnight…..

It looked like she was going to fall over from hobbling on three legs…..

But as quickly as hoof abscesses develop…(if all goes well)…they just as quickly subside and disappear…..

Explanations of just how a hoof abscess gets started have never really made sense to me…but abscesses do happen…..

I watch my horses painfully limp around…or lay down…..

I stay up at night and watch them on the security cameras…and my body parts clench…and the stomach acids rise…and I worry…..

…..but then…just as quickly as a hoof abscess appears…it just as quickly can “blows out” and disappear…..

And Everything Is Right As Rain Again………….Hunky Dory…..

…..(except that more of my stomach lining has dissolved…and my eye twitch has returned)…..

~~~~~BUT~~Let’s Not Forget About The EXCESSIVE Summertime Bugs~~~~~

I’ve decided…alligators and swamp bugs don’t need to evolve to perfection…they’ve already gotten there…..

They are perfectly functioning and in total harmony with their environment here in Florida’s inner swamps…(and golf courses)…..

We…on the other hand…have to find ways to adapt and coexist with the scum…and the mold…and the varying shades of green ooze that are currently growing and thriving and oozing everywhere and on everything…..

…..It’s a Jungle out there……

I’ve been doing more research…on what can possibly be done to ward off the many vampiric biting insects that are multiplying outside…as we speak…..

I don’t want to leave myself and my animals open to the damning health risks from carcinogenic chemicals…..
