The weather dropped from eighty degrees to thirty degrees in only twenty-four hours…..

…..gotta love Florida…..

…..apparently there was a frost…..

…..I missed it…..(my feed guy told me)…..

I am glad it’s finally cool enough to actually enjoy riding and not continually worrying that my horse is going to melt under me…..

It seems like everyone has sprouted a winter coat overnight…..

…..even Anja…..(again)…..

…..who I have body-clipped once this fall already…..

…..but she’s a Norwegian Wooly Mammoth Fjord Horse anyway…..

I’ve dug-out and dusted off the heat-lamp-bulb for Long John Silver…..

…..he’ll stay on the front porch…..it’s out of the wind…..

…..and the heat-lamp will keep his cage roasty-toasty warm…..

But here’s the good news…..

…..I was FINALLY able to start a fire in the fireplace…..

……………………………….FINALLY……………………………….

………….(I do like fires)………….

I wasn’t able to have ANY fires for all of last winter’s cold (cool) season…..

…..(such sadness)…..

…..and that was because I had three litters of Irish Wolfhound puppies in bins and cages and crates hanging from the rafters in the den…..

The poor puppers would’ve over-heated and gotten super-cranky if I had cranked up the fireplace…..

…..and you never want hot/cranky puppies…..

But this year is different…..

…..I’m back to my old pyromaniac-self…..

I didn’t create an instantaneous chimney/house fire…..

…..it appears that there was only an unsightly accumulation of dust and cobwebs in the fireplace and chimney…..and (fortunately) nothing more incendiary…..

I am in the process of burning everything that has dropped and/or blown out of the trees in the past months…..

…..it’s an over-due/major yard clean-up…..

Like I’ve said before…..I’m not picky about burning only dried/seasoned wood…..

…..I’ll burn anything…..

…..(well…not pine)…..

…..I don’t care if it’s green or rotten or scrubby or nasty…..

I’ve found that with the appropriate amount of well-placed/twisted-newspaper…..

…..and/or pinecones (BTW—–they don’t count as pine wood)…..

…..and/or saved candle-wax-drippings…..

…..and an appropriately placed flame…..

…..then whoosh…..

You Got A Blaze!!!!!

Fires in the fireplace make me happy…..

…..Fireplace Season Is Officially Here!!!…..

It’s time for…..

…..popcorn…..and chestnuts…..and hot dogs…..and S’mores…..and singed fingers…..and scorched eyebrows…..
