When puppies and kittens are sold in the state of Florida, they are required to have an official Health Certificate.

It’s the law.

It’s a good law…..it helps to safeguard the puppies and their breeders and the buyers.

Florida is one of three states who have what are commonly referred to as the “Lemon Laws”.

These laws help to curb and/or eliminate unscrupulous breeders and improve the health and care of litters.

Puppies & kittens can get their Florida State Health Certificate after their veterinarian’s health evaluation at eight weeks old.

I was SO dreading piling all of our baker’s dozen of puppies into my truck’s backseat and motoring down the road to Dr. Russell’s for their first round of vaccinations/tests/and microchipping.

Squirming puppies (as well as human toddlers) have the ability to appear to multiply right before your eyes…

Where you thought there were three…..they suddenly become squared…..and you have what seems more like nine puppies scrambling off to all four compass points…

The truck cab semi-contains them…….

…..but then there’s the long wait in Dr. Russell’s waiting room…….

…..and the other (germy) clients in the waiting room…..

…..and client’s (germy) pets…….

…..and (germy) strangers coo’ing over my wriggling puppies…….

…..and the inevitable…..”can I hold one?”…….

*****NO, YOU CAN’T!…….THEY HAVEN’T HAD THEIR VACCINATIONS YET!

Fortunately an old friend (Dr. Brigid~~~also a veterinarian) came to the rescue…

…..sigh…….Thank God!

She knew what was in store for all of us in the truck/on the road/in the waiting room/and at Dr. Russell’s office…….

…..she volunteered to come to our house for a HOUSE-VISIT!…..!

!!!…..OMG…..OMG…..OMG…..OMG…….!!!

…..did I take her up on this offer?…….???

…..hell yes I did…..

…..in a New York minute!…….!

…..sigh…..double-sigh…..triple-sigh…….
