Friday & Ian

First and Foremost…..
We’re all okay and we survived…the horses are fine…all the animals are fine…..

The house…the barn…the land…the vehicles are fine…..
…..the round pen…not so much…..it got smooshed…..

We’re all still a little rattled…..
…..a little fried…..
Who am I kidding…..?…..
My eyes are rolling around in my head like lost marbles…..

Our comfort-zone/homeostasis will take a while to settle in again…(once we find where it blew to and ultimately landed)…..
My friend (further South by only about fifty minutes)…was not so lucky…no horse or animal deaths that I know of…Thank God…but her barn was absolutely totaled…..

I’ll re-cap these last few days…sometime…but honestly…I’m just too tired right now…..
We were lucky…I feel so grateful…and at the same time…so guilty…the news coverage is devastating….

…..it could’ve been us…..
…..the emotional rollercoaster ride is enormous…..

I’m checking out farmland that’s for sale in Ohio…..
I know you Snow-Birds might think I’m crazy…..

…..am I?…I’ll ask you again…after an active Hurricane Season…..
My older daughter shouldered all the hard work and forethought and fore-planning…..

She was born in Florida…both my girls are Tropical-babies…they’ve never been in a snow drift…their idea of cold weather is opening the freezer doors at Walmart…..

I’ve heard Ian is going down in the history books as one of the biggest hurricanes to hit the US mainland…..

We were concerned about you and the tribe.
Let us know if you need anything.
Thank you guys. We are surprisingly unscathed. Some basic wheelbarrow clean-up…and some chainsawing (at some point in time in the future). We were a few counties away from the brunt of Hurricane Ian. I heard that the entirety of Hurricane Charley (which hit in the exact same place) could totally fit in the eye of Ian…
Ian was HUGE and Devastating…
So glad your family and your animals all came through the storm safely.
We did! Thank God! How did you and yours fair? I hope everyone is okay. Days later and I am still exhausted…just from sitting and worrying. I’m devastated for those south of us…
