Here’s a Fun Game…..

~~~Spot The Owl~~~

…..(I can’t locate it anymore either…and I took the picture)…..

…(yep…there’s one in this photo too)…(I took it at night)…(in case you were wondering)…

We have a lot of trees here with a lot of canopy…..

It’s a perfect home for birds & critters…..

At night…we hear so much cacophony outside…..

There are always a bunch of owls calling back and forth between each other…..

…..(their talking fries Long John Silver on the back porch)…..

He starts yelling at them…they hoot back…he keeps yelling…they keep hooting…..

…..(it’s very restful)…..

What’s neat is knowing that when the sun comes up…and the owls go to sleep…..

…..they’re still up there…somewhere…(in their jammies)…all day long…..

It’s hard trying to spot them…they’re so well-camouflaged…..

But when I do locate one…he’s already quietly staring down at me…..

…..I feel like they miss nothing…..

I’ve found that if I wander around…and look for their white-splattered droppings in the dirt…..

…..and then look up…(with my mouth closed)…..

…..I might spot one…..

…..but not always…..

Scat-Patrol is both entertaining & educational…..

…..(I need to get out more…don’t I?)…..

During the day…we have resident hawks who follow us…especially when we’re working or on the tractor…..

…..(I think it’s because they’re hoping we might scare up dinner for them)…..

They are equally camouflaged…and because they’re daytime hunters…they enjoy startling us when they swoop down over our shoulders to land right in front of us…..

Hawk Humor…I guess…..

I love the self-confidence of predatory birds…..

They have a Can-Do Attitude and they know they’re top of the food chain…..

Come to think of it…we have very few feral rabbits around here anymore(?)…..

Quite often…I see hawks taking off with snakes or anoles in their talons…..

…..(semi-sushi?)…..
