Yep…the chicken ladies have definitely cranked up their egg production…..

They stand in lines outside the laying boxes…every day now…..

The other day I picked up forty-three eggs…(43)…(!)…..

My younger daughter swore that she had picked them all up the day before…(but I really don’t think so)…..

By my count…we are averaging between eighteen and twenty-ish eggs a day…..

We give eggs to our neighbors and friends…..

The only thing we have a shortage of…are the egg cartons…..

I found out the hard way…that you can’t successfully stack two dozen eggs in a grocery bag…..

…..it was unfortunately both drippy and gooey…..

We’ve gotten most people trained to return their cartons…but there are some out there who are slow learners…..

…..You Know Who You Are!…..

I don’t share the duck eggs very often…(or at all)…and there are a couple good reasons for that…..

They are usually super dirty…but mostly…they’re huge & I really like them…..

Our Runner ducks are seasonal layers…so it’s a treat when I can find them in the coop on a daily basis…..

Plus…the ducks choose to lay their eggs everywhere and anywhere…(that’s wet)…..

…..usually in the mud…if they can find any…..

…..Why?…..

There’s nice straw…there’s even dry dirt…plus there are private laying boxes available for them up…..

Okay I can understand that flying is not really their thing…because their wings are just tiny ineffective after thoughts…..

But the laying boxes are up on the wall…if they want to give them a try…..

With all of these eggs…our meal menus have consisted of a lot of egg dishes…..

…..I’m hard boiling them as fast as possible…..

My Aunt Cory’s sent me a two tier hard boiler…and it has come in super useful…..

I’m trying to accumulate enough hard boiled duck eggs to fill a gallon pickle jar…so I can pickle them in apple cider vinegar…..

It’s been a foot race with my younger daughter…to see how many eggs I can actually get into the jar…..

…..before she peels and eats them…..

That kid can put away hard boiled eggs faster than you could imagine…..

Mama Pig is benefiting from all the leftover shells…they’re one of her favorites…(honestly anything (but citrus fruit) are her favorites)…..

I think…if I play this game strategically…during this next round of hard boiling…..

I might be able to out run my daughter’s ardent egg eating…and be able to plop them into the vinegar for pickling…before she can get her avaricious hands on them…..

…..Well…One Can Only Hope…..
