Dorian Approacheth…..

Dorian Approacheth…..

The spaghetti models are running amuck…

We are all feeling whiplashed by that stupid pasta…

Our favorite meteorologist is looking haggard…

My stomach acids are typically/seasonally churning away just like the hurricanes…

Dorian is gaining strength over the very warm waters in the tropics…

We are all watching the hinging-point of where he will ultimately make landfall…….

…….there is a high-pressure system in the Atlantic Ocean that will determine when Dorian makes a turn from going to the west…….to heading towards the north.

The spaghetti graphics have his track sometimes going right over us…….

…….and sometimes not…

Whiplash.

So even if Dorian misses us…….

Or skirts us…….

Or smacks us dead-on…….

…….we have to prepare like he’s going to be a direct hit…

Things to do…….things to do…….things to do…….

*****First thing that Paolo & I had to do was to get the baby piglets out of the sty with their mama and into a drier pen of their own with less mud.

There’s already too much mud in their current enclosure…….and with all of the projected rain to come…….it will make the mud dangerously deep for such little legs and bodies…….not to mention the potential for hypothermia…

So we herded, picked-up, rescued the muddy flailing babies and got them safely under a dry roof…

Paolo had to cut the welded metal panel to make a doorway for the piglets…….it worked nicely with the exception of Paolo’s overly-zealous, wire-cutting technique and my overly-slow pointing to which wire needed to be cut…….

…….my finger got in the way of the hinging bolt cutter…….

…….I think I’ll be loosing that fingernail…….

*****The next major priority was to get the bee hives up higher…….

Paolo & I “attempted” working as a team…….

I had the extra cement blocks at the ready…….

I had the extra 4″ x 4″s ready to slide in place…….

I had figured out how to use the metal-hive-picker-upper-thingie…….

………………..Well let’s put it this way…………………

Paolo & I aren’t talking right now…….

I’m still puffy and welted and overtly-stung…….

I was still pulling stingers out of my neck the next day……..

…………………..Ultimately, however, the bees are now safer, higher and hopefully successfully missing the rising waters to come………………….

But that was only after my older daughter subsequently came over and we both smoked/taped/racheted/draped & moved both hives…….

…….added the additional blocks and wood…….

…….and then did everything again in reverse order to raise the beasles to a new, high & dry level…

…….all while not being stung once…

The Hag

I may never talk to Paolo again…….

I’m still too welted to even think about it…….

…….Ah, marriage & teamwork…….

P.S.  Additionally my older daughter and I got a halter back on our Drum Horse stallion in preparation for Dorian’s arrival…………………he was not cooperative…….but we prevailed at that too…
