Cross-Eyed Sleep Deprivation

Cross-Eyed Sleep Deprivation

Well, this goes with the territory…

With all of my chronic insomnia, wouldn’t you think that a few/consecutive nights of planned/irregular sleep would be easy-peesy?…

But that doesn’t seem to be the case…

…..my reliable insomnia always appears to let me down during the early/necessary/puppy-feeding-marathons.

!!!!!What good is insomnia, if it doesn’t help you out at times like this!!!!!

Apparently I have “Prima Dona Insomnia”…….a picky sort of condition that picks and chooses…….and doesn’t appear to want to help me out at all during Irish Wolfhound puppy-feeding-run-on-days…….and nights…….and all the wee hours in-between…

Stupid condition.

Entitled condition.

Thoroughly unhelpful condition.

But~~~~~Killian and her puppies have their responsibilities down pat now…

They promptly get down to business during each feeding session…..

They Have A Real Git ‘Er Done Attitude

And for that, I’m so grateful…

I am worried that Killian isn’t producing enough milk though…

It’s hard to quantify what is coming out of a Wolfhound teat, versus how many ounces have been consumed from a measured milk bottle…

I’ve resorted to the old principle of…….what goes in, must come out…

…..and in my worldly-wisened opinion of poopie-quantities, there’s just not enough coming out of each of the puppies..

So to that effect, yesterday we all piled into the truck (Rubber Maid container of puppies & Killian & younger daughter & me)…….and off we tootled down the road to Dr. Russell’s…

Our original plan was to remove dew claws, but we opted to concentrate on the lack-of-poop-quantity concerns…

Each puppy got a 20cc syringe of fluids injected subcutaneously (to add hydration)…

Remember that old tried & true supplement Ringer’s Lactate?  (Addy got the same stuff a few weeks back, only her’s was I.V.)

We are hoping that the added fluid will get the intestinal contents “lubricated” and help the puppies be more regularly-pooping-puppies…

Keep your fingers, toes & eyes crossed…

Simple things like this can become big issues…

I’m ready for some productive poops to start occurring (or lack there of).

Don’t get me started talking about enemas…….I’ll go there if I have to…….

We all know I can be up close and personal when necessary…

Here’s to hearty craps………….they make the world go ’round…

I’m So Exhausted
