It was cold when we got up yesterday morning…..

…..some weather changes came through in the night…..

…..and it made things cold…(well…cold for Florida)…it was a Snap!…..

…..A Genuine Cold Snap!…..

It was even colder this morning…we were in the 40’s F…..

…..my Raynaud’s Syndrome kicked into gear in my hands…..

…..(What’s Raynaud’s Syndrome?)…(I prefer to call it “cadaver-fingers”)…..

I ignore it…I think it’s connected with my fibromyalgia…..

…..Whatever…..

But…with a Cold Snap…there’s a need for a fire in the fireplace!…..

…..what fun!…..

So I systematically started setting up the fireplace grate with the pithy/damp/carefully-stacked firewood from the backyard…..

The anoles and spiders and snakes were lulled into a chilled-stupor…so I was a little less concerned while carrying armfuls of wood up to the house…..

…..the fire ants were slowed down…not inactive…but I’m here to say…they pop in the flames…..

…..”Et tu, Brute!”…..

HA!…pay-backs!…..

My responsibility is to burn all the grade-B firewood, so I can replace it with some premium/new cord wood…..

…..I’m already well on my way…..

…..but…there’s just too much back-draft of smoke…when there isn’t any wind outside…..

When the chimney cools down…I’m going to have to stick my head up there to see what’s going on with the flue…..

Our eyes are burning…we’re coughing…but it’s finally that time of year…dammit…..

…..we just have to suck it up and deal with the smoke inhalation…..

…..it’s time for popcorn…(cough!)…and hot dogs…(cough!)…and S’mores…dammit…(cough!)…..

There’s only a nano-second of time to be able to have roasty/toasty fires here in the sub-tropics…..

You have to take advantage of every possible opportunity…as soon as possible…..
