The shoeing stock has been refurbished.

It is almost completely set up with appropriate hardware and straps.

 

The dimensional lumber that I ordered and picked up has been used to replace the old, dry-rotted boards.

 

It really does look like something out of a dungeon from the Spanish Inquisition.

I still need to contact an Amish hardware in Ohio for the necessary straps for securing the hooves to the support posts…

Plus I believe I need either the back strap or the belly strap replacement.  I have one, but not the other……….I’m just not sure which is which yet.

Jimmy Billy (the man who can fix anything) took on the task without hesitation.

Armed with a few photos of what the end product should look like, he fixed and fashioned the stock so that it is now draft horse worthy.

Claire was watching the entire time.

Much like Poppy knowing what a grazing muzzle was from previous experience……………….you could see that Claire knew exactly what a shoeing stock was all about from her own personal perspective in the past.

 

She was obviously apprehensive.

Dread was radiating off her body…

But now that the stock is finished, I’m trying to make Claire’s new experiences with this particular shoeing stock as cheery and positive as possible.

Yippee!  Whoopee!

It’s the funnest, bestest shoeing stock that we’ve all ever seen!!!!!!

It’s great!

You’re going to love it, Claire.

 

Forget about all of your past negative experiences with other nasty stocks………….this one’s different…

In the meantime, I’ve been coaxing her into it and through it with carrots and treats.

We’ll get down to business later, but for now it’s all about the fun and the treats.
