We just finished trimming Claire’s hooves today.

She’s the one with hoof canker……..real bad stuff…

It’s most probably incurable.

It most probably is her death knell.

It’s not communicable…

It’s just poor ole’ Claire’s problem…….in all four hooves.

…..Hoof Canker is a nasty anaerobic organism…….

I know I’ve said this before, but she so reminds me of Boxer from the book “Animal Farm”…..

…..he was the work horse that worked so hard supporting the farm and the pigs…….

…….and then when he was used-up and broken-down…….and when Napoleon, along with the other pigs, were done with him…….they sent him to the Knacker’s-Yard.

…..and that’s big/willing/abused Claire through and through.

No one took care of her…………….they just used her up…

**********But today was a good day for Claire!!!**********

We were finally able to use the completed shoeing stock;  this is Claire in it;  and she had her hooves trimmed all the way around (all four) successfully…….

……..and we didn’t maim and/or snuff out our farrier today either.

Okay…..Okay…..I did dose her up on Dormosedan (it’s a sub-lingual sedative)…..but only once…

…….and as a result, Claire was semi-willing to pick up each and every hoof…….

…..well that combined with attaching the clevises from the fencing “Come-A-Long” to the dog collars around her fetlocks and one of the big, upper support-beams of the shoeing stock…….

…..it wasn’t pretty…….but it worked…

Drugged Addy was no match for a ratchet and our 1-ton/Come-A-Long.

Our farrier said that her hooves looked better!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m not holding my breath for a complete cure…….

But I am happy for Claire today…

………….and maybe………….just maybe………….

………….I’m holding my breath just a little bit………….
