Claire’s a funny onion…..

She has a quirky personality and an odd sense of humor…..

…..over the years…..I’ve found…..most Clydesdale’s do…..

…..(I’m still mad at Addy…..that was a cruel prank with your sucker-punch kick)…..

…..(just not cricket…..Addy…..and not an itty-bit funny)…..

…..(and yes…..I’m still stewing/glowering/& gimping)…..(and I haven’t forgiven you yet)…..

But Claire…..she has more than enough character for her pretty-petite-pony-ness…..

We’ve been trying to slather on all the TLC that the old girl will tolerate…..

…..after her son really dragged her down (weight-wise) after foaling…..

…..we’ve been throwing food at her since weaning Finley off of her…..

…..she has all of the free-choice alfalfa that she might possibly want…..

But…..she hasn’t been putting weight on as readily as I would have liked…..

…..so the first go-to in that situation…..when a horse doesn’t seem to be able to put on weight…..

…..is to worm them…..

…..and to that effect…..

…..I went to my old/stand-by livestock supply catalog…..

Boy!  Was I startled to see the current pricing for horse and livestock wormers…..!!!…..

Specifically Ivermectin…..!…..

…..the bed-rock/main-stay anthelmintic that most people use is Ivermectin…..

…..you know that parasitic medicine that has gotten a lot of press-coverage recently as a potential treatment for Covid-19…..?…..

Well…..I had a very rude awakening when I went to order from my livestock catalog…..I discovered that Ivermectin is much…much…much more expensive these days…..

Okay…..

…..drop back and punt…..

So with frugal-budget-minded-ness…..I went to the next wormer on the list…..

My older daughter and I put a head-lock on dear ol’ Claire and proceeded to put multiple “clicks” down her gullet from our big/economy-version/worming-gun…..

…..(everyone should have a worming gun…..shouldn’t they?)…..

We wormed her at about 2500 pounds…..she doesn’t weigh that much…..

…..but…..in for a penny…..in for a pound…..

And now we wait…..and watch…..

…..and hopefully bony ole’Claire will start packing on some poundage…..
