Chantilly Lace

Chantilly Lace

Chantilly

I suppose I have to now…….

I’ve been putting this off for awhile…….

It’s been over two weeks…….

So I’ll just jump in at the deep end…….

Chantilly & Addy

Chantilly died suddenly…….

So suddenly……..

I can’t wrap my head around any of this…….

We’ve involved the county’s Environmental Crimes Unit…

Claire & Chantilly & Friends

But like everything else…….

…they are not going to be able to find anything…….

We have her death on surveillance camera footage…….

…….very dramatic…

…….very sudden…

Chantilly & Claire & Addy

I’d been watching the horses since sun-up…

I had seen her four minutes before she laid down and died at 11:28:15am…….

By the apparent clonic seizure involved, I have to wonder about an aneurysm…

But we’ve run out of money for unhelpful, inconclusive necropsies.

Dead is Dead.

(bitter, much?)

Chantilly

After loosing eleven (11) horses in fifteen (15) months, I firmly believe there is human involvement in all of this.

But I’m considered overly-paranoid……………………………….(huh?)

Pascal if you remember, she had breathing issues last summer and had to go to the Ocala Equine Medical Clinic for treatment of pneumonia and the potential horse equivalent of COPD…….they thought…

But she was in a run-down state at the time I found her in Alabama.  I thought with good food, weight gain, and a caring home that she would be all right…

She was just fine at Mary Constance’s farm for three months before coming to our home.

Then within one month with us, she developed breathing issues.

But they hadn’t been a problem yet this summer.

She seemed to be okay……………..until she dropped dead.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
NOW I am going to indulge my paranoia…
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

She and Addy have been in the front yard.

They took to standing in the corner by the driveway’s front gate…

Demolished Surveillance Camera & Mail Box

The gate had been covered by the surveillance camera on the post by the mailbox…

…….until it got suspiciously mowed down by a truck in April…

So there was no surveillance available at the front gate prior to Chantilly’s sudden death…

But wait there’s more…….

Addy has been the horse with the bad bloodwork & symptoms………….the first CBC was done in March (about three weeks before the truck took out the cameras)-(which we can’t afford to replace).

Addy & Brave

Five blood tests later (over $1000.00 in bloodwork alone) along with a great deal of veterinary medical treatment……………Addy “appears” to be on the mend…

I’m holding my breath…….

The three (3) remaining Drafts are in the pasture now…

Brave & Claire

The same pasture we had to re-fence, so that it wouldn’t share a fence-line with the public road along the front of our property……………..just like our driveway gate does……………………..

I have no stomach-lining left…

I am CONSTANTLY checking on the horses and the cameras………………the remaining cameras……………..

………………the remaining horses…

And I’m dismissively considered paranoid……………..(?)

It’s like an un-ending horrible dream.

I’m on a dead-end road in the swamp…………………………………leave us the *&#$%&#* ALONE.

Chantilly ~~~ R.I.P.

  1. First, my undying condolences for you and your family.
    Second very sound paranoia. Beware always and on guard my friend.

  2. I’m sorry to hear about this mess. Paranoid? I don’t think so. The statistical odds absolutely do not lean towards anything natural. Game trail camera’s are fairly inexpensive, although they can get high tech, and may not give you live feed, but are easy to conceal. Possibly you will get some photo’s that may be useful. Since many are made for night, lighting won’t be a problem.
