The last three days I’ve spent finishing altering the rabbit’s hutches.

 

 

I had started months ago…………………but procrastination and the summer swelter made me keep putting off finishing the changes on the final two hutches.

 

 

I’ve been removing the bottom welded-wire and replacing it with wire that has wider apertures (so the bunny poop/Milk Duds can fall through and not get piled up in the cage’s corners.

 

The hutches are mounted on the side walls of the turkey coop.  They have electric wiring above and below each suspended cage (to hopefully zap & discourage any ascending or descending predacious varmints).

I found that if I knelt under each cage, I could work over my head and cut out the old wire screening and re-attach the new wire panel that I had already pre-cut to fit…

Sounds very straight forward doesn’t it?

I’m here to say I really should be showering right now instead of typing on my laptop………………

I have chunky nasties all over me especially on top of my head & in my hair……..right down to my scalp…………….eeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwwww…………….my hair is crunchy……………..eeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwwww.

But at least, that project’s done now.

 

The new, clean-as-a-whistle wire is in…

The old, poop-collecting wire is out…

 

I did notice an additional, disturbing fact while I was kneeling under the rabbit hutches……………………looking up…

 

………………………of the three rabbits (which were supposed to be two does and one buck when we purchased them)………………….we have two boys and one girl………………..

Hmmmmmmmmmmm……………….

…sigh…

 

Well maybe…………….just maybe, that’s why girl bunny #2 hasn’t had any babies yet!?!

I wasn’t being a voyeur.

 

But there was just no denying what I saw…

And what I saw wouldn’t have been on any of the girl bunnies I’ve ever known………………times two…

Just saying………….

I’ve lost complete faith in the rabbit-breeder where we bought our stock.

I should send him a reference book on rabbits………………..with pictures…
