Blacksmiths Aren’t What They Used To Be

Blacksmiths Aren’t What They Used To Be

*******Please Subscribe To My Blog…..It Really Helps*******

It wasn’t easy…..

But we found one…..

Our past blacksmith quit on us…..

Claire

After Claire and then Brave passed…a little bit of time went by…but not much…..

When I recontacted him…our farrier said he’d been ill…after an exposure to glyphosates…(not the first time we’ve heard that)…..

~~~Don’t Get Me Started On Round-Up and Monsanto and Bayer~~~
My farrier had a single occurrence Grande Mal seizure…and after that…he decided he was only going to trim & shoe light horses…not the heavy ones like ours…..
…..okay…I understand……………Phooey!…but I understand…..
*****(Here’s a little aside note…years ago when our daughters were babies…their father had a single occurrence Grande Mal seizure after spraying with Dursban…*****(Some Dursban Information)*****…and less than ten years after that…I had a single occurrence Grande Mal seizure too…(?)*****
Hmmmmm…..
……odd coincidences…huh?…..
Doesn’t it make more sense now…why we take a great deal of effort to mow down and cut down the invasive dog fennel…rather than using herbicides to kill them?…..
Anyway…we lost Montana as our blacksmith…..
Crimson
He doesn’t want to do our heavy plow horses anymore…..
After a lot of searching…(and Mary Constance’s help)…we now have a new blacksmith…Arizona (I’m sticking with the State-themed aliases–and I don’t know why)…..
So many of the blacksmiths…(once you mention that you have a draft horse)…they politely decline…while they quietly back out the door…..
But Arizona didn’t sprint for his truck…..
…..Huzzah!…..
Crimson & Pepper
Okay…Okay…I “may” have misled him for about twenty-four hours…..
After I called and set up an appointment…..
Crimson
…..the next day…I called back…and said…”I’m not sure if I mentioned that my mares are Clydesdales”…..
Okay…Okay…I know that was a cheap trick…and I’m ashamed I did it…..
Okay…Okay…I’m not ashamed…..
Pepper
But on my second phone conversation…Arizona said that the Clydesdales were fine…because he also does the Police Department’s Mounted Posse…who are mostly drafts or half drafts…..
…..(because what better mounted crowd control than some big-assed plow horses throwing their weight around?)…..
He said he’d charge more for a trim on a draft than he would on a light horse…that’s just fine with me…he deserves it…..
…..(phew…I was worried he’d flee like the rest of them)…..
But he didn’t…plus he gave the girls cookie treats before and after their trim…(only if they were good girls)…..
…..and Thank Heavens…they were Good Girls!…..
Crimson
We’re scheduled and on his books in six weeks time…..
…..(celebrate the little things)…..
Huzzah!…..
