…..much like me…I’m sure there are a couple of you out there…who are wondering…..

What’s an Armitas?…..

…..a couple years ago…(well maybe more than a couple)…I discovered their existence…..

In a nutshell…they’re short chaps…..

I already have some half-chaps…which allow me to ride in blue jeans and (God forbid) tennis shoes (I draw the line at flip-flops)…..

Half-chaps turn a person’s lower legs into quasi-riding boots…..

…..with just a couple snaps or Velcro and/or zippers…and voilà…instant boots…..

But chaps…they do have their purpose and place in Western (as well as English) riding…..

I’ve wanted a pair of regular chaps for a long time…but I was hesitant…I mean…it’s Florida…and it’s Hot…..

….I would only be able to wear them for two days…maybe three…out of the year?…..

…..it just didn’t seem worth the investment…..

…..but then I discovered Armitas…..

…..(Armitas, Chaps, Chinks, Woolies, etc.)…..

I saw a pair of armitas in motion at the Mongol Derby on a different competitor…while I was watching Suellen compete…..

They seemed like a potentially good idea…..

…..they offered the same protection as chaps…they had long fringe to help keep bugs away…AND…they were shorter and possibly less hot…..

So my research started…I found the leatherworker who made those armitas…contacted her…ordered my own…..

…..and ultimately received my own pair…..

…..Tra!…La!…..

I really like them…but the woman who made them was a crank…..

Where I have no complaints about her skill with leather…her communication & business dexterity were definitely lacking…..

…..(along with her attitude)…..

Now maybe…(just maybe)…my attitude clashed with hers…..

…..maybe…..

But I take the approach of…I’m the customer…she has the product…(and my ample deposit)…and we should have some sort of seller/consumer relationship…..

…..with that in mind…I should be kept in the loop of information…right?…..

…..well…that’s what I expected…..

Anyway…..

I am happy with my armitas…would I recommend this lady?…..

…..hmmmm…..

I would highly recommend tacking her down (in writing) with any important details…..

…..(pssst…I’m not giving her contact information…you’ll have to dig her up on your own)…..

I haven’t had a chance to actually ride in my new armitas yet…..

…..because I currently don’t have a horse…(Dammit Addy!)…..

…..but I’m looking forward to it…..

…..(maybe I should just wear them ass-less to the local grocery store?)…..

…..(wander around Winn-Dixie’s produce or canned goods aisles?)…..

…..(stranger things have happened there…I’m sure)…..
