And The Results Are In……………..(aka The Chickens Have Come Home To Roost)

The Open Poultry Show is now recorded in the archives for Poultry Posterity…
The chickens are awaiting their release day…

Now they are just showing themselves off for the public and general fair-goer.

……….Why is it………just about every fair patron………who passes a cow………has to go………moooooooooooooooo………???

Those of us who frequent the livestock pavilion, will sit on the stacked hay bales and watch the variety of passer-bys (it’s better than analyzing Walmart shoppers after midnight)…

……………..and nine times out of ten, at least one person in each passing group will moooooooooooooo…(?)
…………..it never fails…………..

In the dairy goat tent………the LaMancha goat breeders are always concocting up creative versions of why LaMancha dairy goats don’t have external ears………….
*****LaMancha Dairy Goat Description*****
As the fair progresses, and the exhibitors become more exhausted and less patient…………………….their stories get wilder.

I personally like my dairy goats with ears…………….that’s why my choice of goats are Oberhasli’s and/or Toggenburg’s.

People don’t whinny when they pass horses, or cluck when they are near the chickens…

……………….you do, however, get a handful of quackers around the duck pens though…

…………………….and the rabbit patrons are generally quiet…
………But the cattle barns are———————just filled to the brim with obligatory mooing spectators.
It boggles the mind……….(?)
But back to the birds………

We did pretty well……………….well except for a clerical error on my part (fueled by exhaustion) when I was filling out the paperwork.

Simone’s Rooster Rex got a Blue Ribbon…………………Tra! La!
My younger daughter’s French Black Copper Maran hen got a Blue Ribbon AND Best In Breed………………….Tra! La!
My older daughter’s Blue-Laced Red Wyandotte hen was disqualified (but we still got the midway tickets and parking passes———that’s the real priority here).

Apparently, I filled out the entry form incorrectly.
I listed her hen as a Golden-Laced Wyandotte instead of a Blue-Laced Red Wyandotte———silly me…

And Lola’s “In The Buff” Buff Orpington hen got only Fourth Place…
……………..I’m afraid to tell Lola…
………..I won’t tell Lola…
It’s just better that way………………
