An Outing With The Puppers…….Step #1…….

An Outing With The Puppers…….Step #1…….

Joan

Well…….that happened yesterday…….

…..we survived…….

…..don’t worry, the puppies are just fine…….what I am saying by “we” is that my younger daughter & I survived…….

…..I still have an on-going/ringing headache…….but that could just be a compilation of two months of chronic lack of sleep…….fueled by large chunks of hastily hacked cheese (I’m still Atkins’ing & Paleo’ing).

…..probably not an ideal combination…….

…..BUT…..the puppies are on schedule and they are all healthy…….

…..Tra!   La!…..

Try to visualize getting six (6), approximately fifteen pound (each), eight week old Irish Wolfhound puppies to their appointment.                                            Easy………….Peasy…

…….not…….!

Joan & Betty

That last sentence could succinctly describe what happened…………but does it really?       Really?

Oh wait……………

…….there’s more………….

Bruce

Just getting the litter to the vet’s was a challenge…….

…..Six, medium-sized cages stacked in the back seat?  Hmmmmmmmm…

…..they wouldn’t fit…..

(Putting them in the bed of my pick-up truck was out of the question…..but I did think about it).

…..so we opted for making the backseat of Paolo’s sub-compact into a rolling kennel for all of the puppies…….

Betty In The Background; Joan In The Foreground; & Rachel’s Ear

…..a tarp was put down first (for obvious reasons), then a quilt, then the pups…….

I Have No Idea Which Puppies These Are

………………one human had to stay in the car, while the other humans made a bucket-brigade of puppies from the house to the car—–until the car was filled to the brim with wiggling, wee’ing puppies…….(puppies don’t smell as bad as buck goats)…….

Optimus Prime

…..and we may have used Paolo’s car (in the past) for buck transportation on at least one occasion…….I don’t recommend it…….(that was a bad choice…….a bad, bad choice.)

Joan

…..Then we motored away down the road (a  45 minute drive) to Dr. Russell’s…….

Oscar Trying To Squish Forward Into The Front Seat

…..my younger daughter was the ring master…..I was the driver…..the puppies’ only job was to damply, wreck havoc in the back seat…….

…..and then we arrived at the vet’s…..I secretly oozed out of the car and went to sign in…..

…..then we wait…..

Alice

…..and we wait…..and we wait…..and we wait…..

Oscar

oh, yes…..and we wait some more…..

Impatient Betty

And then one little slip of a veterinarian technician came out and said…….you can bring them in now…….(?)

She looked in the back seat…….and she quietly said………….”I’ll go and get help”…….

(to be continued…….)
