Nothing to report.
Everyone appears to be still standing and breathing….
Isn’t that great!
We are getting back some results on some tests from Becky’s necropsy.
Poisoning………….yes.
But what type……?
It’s NOT from cattle feed mistakenly mixed with horse feed.
It doesn’t appear to be nitrate poisoning, which would have been from fertilizers left on hay…
Our vet did get a positive return that there was botulism in Becky’s manure AND the sampled compressed alfalfa hay that he sent out for testing.
BUT——yesterday, the Florida State Lab sent a report from the University of Pennsylvania stating that Becky’s stomach and GI fluid were negative for Botulism Types A, B, & C poisoning………………………(quick crib notes: horses are most likely to succumb from botulism type B……………..information I never wanted to have to apply in my lifetime.)
I haven’t been able to talk to anyone to understand the direct contradictions.
Still trying to wrap my head around all of this……………..
It’s impossible…. Absolutely impossible….
