All Florida Meet

~~~The All Florida Meet~~~
It’s a marathon…………….not a sprint.
I hope I survive. I’ve been a member of this Hunt for about seventeen or eighteen years now, and I’ve never Hunted in the All Florida Meet.
Our family is usually obligated to the Florida State Fair Dairy Goat Show, or Draft Horse Show, or Poultry Show &/or Irish Wolfhound Exhibition.
But this year, Lola bought my ticket and our only obligations to the State Fair were two Partridge Rocks and one Buff Orpington chicken at the Poultry Show……………and all three birds came home today.
BTW———-The two Partridge Rocks got blue ribbons and the Buff got third place (she was robbed).
It doesn’t appear to have gone to their heads…………..their tiny, little, vacant, narrow heads.
We don’t show the turkeys or the ducks………….they are too sensitive and emotional and people staring at them would have an upsetting effect on their delicate constitutions.
But the All Florida Meet——–ah——–it’s a series of Hunts which is hosted by our Club and other Hunt Club’s members from anywhere can come for a week of Hunts/parties/social activities/ & the Hunt Club Ball (and in past years—–the Hunt Club Brawl)……….it’s always a good time. And then we die.
It has the feel of an equine-pub-crawl.
We kick off with a Welcome Party at the clubhouse on Wednesday evening. Then there’s an early morning Hunt the next morning, and another the morning after that (Friday). Then Friday evening is the Hunt Club Ball at Palma Ceia Country Club.
Saturday has “The Day At The Races” at Tampa Downs, culminating with an early morning Hunt the following day (Sunday) at a nearby ranch……………………then we all fall down & collapse…
I’m excited…………………of course, we’re not mentioning anything to Ruby and Violet about this, just yet……………..and for sure, mums the word to any of my orthopedic surgeons………………….this is far beyond anything that they would ever want to know. They’d probably make me tattoo disclaimers on both my forearms.
I’ve already received my $39.00 evening gown in a manila envelope in the mail (eBay). Same heels from last year. I have an assortment of cute, beaded evening bags to pick from………(Surprise——–I also collect them, too…………..along with pretty rocks.)
I’m finishing up a stained glass panel for the Silent Auction.
Hunting-Themed of course.
It was a pain to finish soldering. I had actually made it for the Ball the year before last, but my soldering iron crapped out (after thirty-plus years of use) and the cats then knocked the panel off the table and broke some of the pieces, and the solder lines got oxidized (a real pain to deal with)………………….however, I’ve finished it now!!! TA! DA!
~~~~~~~~~~
But fumes from salt of ammonium chloride, flux, mineral spirits, burning cellulose sponge, patina, dust, and tears……………………augh.
…………..I’ve made myself loopy on the soldering fumes……………….for a change.

Yep, nauseated…
I have a headache.
