Air Conditioning #101

Air Conditioning #101

*******Please Subscribe To My Blog…..It Really Helps*******

Well…we’re in the deep depths of a Florida summer…..

Using the word…”sweltering” doesn’t really do it justice…..

Intolerable…blazing…swollen…squishy…searing…scorching…sluiced…bacterial…waterlogged…decomposing…..

Oh………….and molding…..

It’s so easy to crawl into anything that has a motorized artificial environment…(i.e. air-conditioning)…and hibernate until the weather breaks…..

…..sometime in November…..

We hope for daily rains…which don’t always happen…..

When they don’t…..

…..the temperatures easily climb well into the ninety’s…(and that’s even before the “feels like” temperatures…which are well into the hundred’s)…..

I worry about the animals outside…..

We make sure the water tanks are topped off daily…the horses seem to be handling the hot weather okay…..

Tyra~Crimson~Pepper

They seek out the shady areas of the pasture whenever they can…..

The chickens hide under the cooker/smoker…or under the lawn chairs…..

The ducks…well…they find mud wherever they can…and they sit in it…..

…..and the pigs…well…they kind of do the same as the ducks…..

Matilda & Clementine

And us…the bi-pedal humans?…..

We find an air conditioned room…and we squat in it…..

****!!!EXCEPT WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONER STOPS WORKING!!!****

And that’s exactly what’s recently happened…..

The air conditioner decided to ice over and stop………….no cold air…whatsoever…..

And That’s Not Cool…..

What to do…What to do…..

Well actually…from all of our past A/C woes…my older daughter and I are now fairly skilled as junior A/C grunts…..

My daughter has taken on the changing of the air conditioner filters…which she’s scheduled in her phone (complete with audible reminders)…..

And I am really really good with the garden hose…and hosing the air handler…which is located outside the garage door on the side of the house…..

…..and should be hosed clean of dirt and debris…every six months…..

…..(and I forgot)…(oops)…..

…eeewwwww…

That poor air handler had been neglected…and left to its own devices…(which was sucking up dust and dirt and medium to small leaves)…..

When my daughter took off the grill-thingie with her handy 5/16 bit ratcheted power drill…..

Then…it was game on…..

I pulled over a cement block…put it on its end…had a seat…and started hosing………….systematically…..

There’s not a lot of intellect to it…just a lot of time…..

You can pick your own pace and direction…and design…..

…..you can change in the middle too…if you want…..

The sky’s the limit…(in terms of your imagined creativity…in hydro-painting in the dusty grim)…..

Rules To Remember:

***Do Not Use A High Powered Hose (because you don’t want to bend the aluminum baffle-thingies)…..

***And…Turn Off The A/C Unit First…..

***Oh AND…Maybe Turn Off The Electric Breaker too…(that’s an important one)…..

…(fortunately…this is not ours)…

And basically…that’s it…..

Then…you sit there with your garden hose sprayer on medium-low…and you hose…and you hose…and you hose…..

…..for hours…and hours…..

But here’s the good news…..

…..other than the soggy clothes…and pruny fingers and toes…..

…(wet Patrice & pruny toes)…

The air handler was finally rinsed as clean as it was going to get…the housing was ratcheted back on…and the breaker and A/C unit was switched back on…..

And Nirvana returned…..

…..ahhhhh…..

Note To Self~~~Ask Older Daughter To Put A Reminder In Her Phone To Remind Me To Hose The Air Handler Every Six Months~~~
