Addy’s Owie

It doesn’t look it…….
…..but Addy’s doing better…
We really are………………………..phew…
Her temperatures are now within “normal” range…….even though the weather continues too be in the 90’sF. and there are no afternoon rains yet.

It’s Hot!
Last night at 8:00PM, after all of the day’s heat, Addy’s temperature was 100.6F.
That’s very acceptable (for a horse).
Right now, I’ve got multiple water sources spraying and sprinkling all over this property.

My home-made, PVC-piping “T” post project is working really well…
Except for the timer…
It’s got things backwards in its little battery brain.
When it’s set to one hour (on the hour) for a fifteen minute duration……….it gets them switched……….

It appears to be on for an hour and off for fifteen minutes…
I’ll have to call the company…….but it’s Memorial Day weekend and no one’s there……….I’ll try on Tuesday.
In the meantime…….I’m just fine with the mares being cool and the ground being soggy.

They all like to stand in mud anyway to cool themselves down.
An old Percheron horse breeder from Kentucky told me that a horse has five hearts…….four of which are in their four hooves…
Although I’ve disagreed with him on other horse issues…….that one made sense…
So……………my home-made “T” sprinkler is sprinkling away…

My horses are paddling around in mud.
Everyone’s temperatures are doing much better.

And Addy’s abscess?
I’m still hosing and flushing……….
It’s being irrigated daily with syringes filled with diluted povidone-iodine alternated with colloidal silver…….
Keeping it open and draining now is the best thing…

It must be working for Addy because her temperature is staying in a good range……….
Let’s not talk about the Betadine or the pus ricocheting off the hose water and onto my face………………………..(I keep telling myself, “don’t think of it as pus—think of it as good white blood cells protecting my mare”)—–(it helps to keep me from hurling).

Love the colloidal silver. As for the the flying pus, I heard an article regarding the drying of small pox pus and blowing it up the nostrils called varriculating, a precursor to vaccinating.
I wonder what bacteria the pus was isolating? Don’t know. I make my own colloidal silver and I have a meter to test the PPM (parts per million). I think I’ve attached the site where I bought it. Really good stuff.

Glad her temperature is moving to the acceptable range. Very hot outside lately.
